Dino Melaye: Senate Summons IGP

Melaye-being-taken-into-Zankli-Hospital-Mabushi-Abuja Senate has summoned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to appear before the house by 11am on Thursday April 26th to brief the house on why Senator Dino Melaye was maltreated by the police despite his status as a federal lawmaker. The resolution to summon the police chief was given following a motion by Senator Samuel Anyanwu representing Imo East who lamented that Senators are being treated like common criminals across Nigeria. According to Senate President Bukola Saraki, all efforts by him to reach the IG has been in vain as the police chief has not taken his calls in the last 48 hours. The Senate adjourned abruptly for all senators to visit the National Hospital where Senator Dino Melaye is admitted. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abu Ibrahim was also authorised to ask the IGP to appear at plenary tomorrow. 

Courst orders Senator Peter Nwaoboshi to prison

Federal High Court proceeding in Lagos has ordered for the imprisonment of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, representing Delta North district at the National Assembly in Ikoyi Prison, Lagos. The remand order which was given on Wednesday, April 25, follows the arraignment of the senator by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over fraud allegations. Justice Mohammed Idris who presided over the matter ordered that the Delta North lawmaker be remanded in prison till Friday when a ruling would be given on whether or not to admit him to bail. Counsel to Senator Nwaboshi had asked the court to grant his client bail on self-recognisance, but the anti-graft agency opposed the bail application; informing the court that there were still pending charges against the Delta North lawmaker.

Marcos Alonso a possible long term replacement for Barca

Marcos Alonso  Barcelona football club is considering Chelsea defender, Marcos Alonso as a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique. The 27-year-old Spanish, who is a product of Real Madrid’s academy system, is seen by those at Camp Nou as a potential fit at centre-half. The versatile Alonso, has no experience of playing as a centre-back from his time at Serie A side Fiorentina, but he has never operated there under Antonio Conte at Chelsea since completing a £23 million move in August 2016. He has surprised in England in a wing-back role, with his efforts in 2017-18 earning him a place in the Premier League PFA Team of the Year. Alonso has also been selected into the senior Spain squad for the first time on the back of consistent outings across English and European competition, with Julen Lopetegui handing him a debut against Argentina in March. President Buhari appoints new NIA Deputy DGs

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari  President Muhammadu Buhari approved Kio Solomon Benibo Amieyeofori and Ambassador Apollonius Demenongu Agev appointments as the Deputy Directors-General (DDGs) at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). The Permanent Secretary (General Services) in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olusegun Adekunle, announced in a statement on Tuesday, April 24 that the appointments are in fulfillment of Paragraph 4 (1) &(2) of the important instrument creating the NIA, with immediate effect. The Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (DGNIA), in line with the provisions of the Instrument under reference, will assign areas of responsibilities to the DDGs who will assist him in carrying out his duties as Director-General,” Adekunle said in the statement. Drama on Instagram at the moment and its between Nollywood actress,  Tonto Dikeh  and musician  Tunde Ednut. It started with a post by Tunde Ednut reacting to the quality of phone used by one of the  Big Brother Naija  finalist,  Nina  saying ' Nina stop using Android'. Tonto Dikeh didn't like his comment and she told him to get her a new phone since he's a bigger celebrity.
