Court orders reopening of DAAR Communications Plc

Federal High court in Abuja, has ordered for the reopening of DAAR Communications Plc, owned by Raymond Dokpesi. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) suspended the licence of DAAR Communications Plc , owners of AIT and Raypower after a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday 6, June“ until further notice. The NBC Director-General said the decision was taken for failure of the stations to abide by the broadcasting code. The NBC boss said the regulatory agency had been monitoring the stations for a long time and had issued warnings that were defied. However, ruling on the matter on Friday, June 7, the Abuja division of the Federal High ordered that the stations should be reopened. Justice Inyang Ekwo, in his ruling, ordered that parties in the case should maintain the status quo as the situation was as at of May 31st when the processes were filed. And the case was adjourned till June 13 for the defendant to show cause why order should not be given.

Nigerians React to DAAR Communication shut down

Earlier yesterday, the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) suspended the license of Daar Communication Plc, owners of AIT, RAY POWER until further notice? Reacting to the current DAAR Communication state, Reno Omokri wrote, 'the Buhari  junta has shut down  @AIT_Online . We are now officially a dictatorship. Opposition voices are stifled, and those who voted against Buhari are treated like enemies of the state and called 'necessary evil'. Responding to Reno Omokri, some Nigerians said this how “this is the next level where our will be shot down”
