Bill Cosby placed under house arrest

Bill Cosby. Photo:AP Comedian Bill Cosby is to be placed under house arrest following his conviction on three counts of aggravated sexual assault, a judge ruled. According to court documents, Judge Steven O’Neill also ordered that the 80-year-old wear a GPS monitor. The bail restrictions clarified by O’Neill say Cosby may not leave his home in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania except for medical treatment or consultation with his legal counsel and only with prior consent from his probation officer. Any such appointments are limited to the county in which he lives and several adjoining counties.

FG declares May 1 public holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, 1 May 2018, public holiday to mark the workers’ Day. The Minister of Interior,  Lt Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (Rtd) diclosed this in Abuja on Friday, wishes the Nigerian workers a successful May Day and  congratulated Nigerian workers on their competency and dedication to building a greater Nigeria. The Minister in a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. M Umar, commended the central role workers play in government duties and decisions, keeping faith with the present administration in its resolve in building a better country, Nigeria. Dambazau urged the continuous support of Nigerian workers in government’s effort in repositioning the country’s economy and uphold the shared legacy of all Nigerians.

President Buhari leaves to US

President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has left Abuja on Saturday, 28 April on an official working visit to the United States of America, on the invitation of President Donald Trump. Buhari will hold a bilateral meeting with President Trump, and a working lunch, on Monday 30th April 2018, according to a statement by Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina. “The meeting is to discuss ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries and to advance shared priorities, such as: promoting economic growth, fighting terrorism and other threats to peace and security. “The meeting will further deepen the US-Nigeria relationship, as the United States considers Nigeria’s economic growth, security and leadership in Africa to be critical aspects of their strategic partnership,” it said. The statement added that later in the day, Buhari would meet with a group of businesspersons in agriculture and agro-processing, dairy and animal husbandry. Reports said that ahead of th
