Nigeria Sets World Record in Commonwealth 2018

Nigeria emerged top in the list in the men’s heavyweight category as Abdulazeez Ibrahim won the gold medals in the Para Powerlifting game today at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. Abdulazeez took control of the heavyweight category of para powerlifting with the lift of 220kg. He accumulates a total of 191.9 points despite failing his attempt at lifting 221kg, among a field of 10 contestants. Also, earlier today, Roland Ezuruike, Esther Oyema and Ndidi Nwosu all won gold in their various categories. While Yee Khie Jong from Malaysia won the silver medal with a lift of 188.7kg while India’s Sachin Chandhary went with a bronze medal in a 181.0kg effort. The Nigerian gold medallist, Abdulazeez won four years ago in the heavyweight title in Glasgow. At the ongoing Games, Nigeria has so far won eight medals; four silver and four gold. Which made the country presently ninth on the medals table.

Nigerian financial institution Zenith Bank Plc is enhancing the ability of its customers to perform international transactions with the introduction of the Bank British Pounds and Euro Visa Debit Cards. The cards are designed to provide customers with more flexibility in spending by enabling them to access their Pounds and Euro domiciliary accounts from anywhere in the world. That is, Zenith Bank customers can now spend Pounds Sterling and Euros from their domiciliary accounts in countries where such are legal tender, without having to worry about converting currency. The new Zenith Bank Pounds and Euro Visa Debit Cards support ATM withdrawals abroad and POS/Online payments at merchant locations in over 210 Countries. Customers can obtain a Zenith Bank Pounds or Euro Visa Debit Card at any of the Bank’s branches nationwide. 

Obafemi Martins undergoes successful surgery in England

Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins had a successful surgery in England on his hamstring injury. He departed to England for surgery after an injury in an AFC Champions League game between Shanghai Shenhua and Kashima Antlers on Tuesday, April 3. The 33-year-old was instrumental for Shanghai Shenhua before his injury; he scored the winner in the Chinese FA Cup final to take his team to the Asian Champions League. Shanghai Shenhua posted a picture of Martins in the hospital on their official Instagram and Twitter accounts to confirm that his surgery was successful. The picture of Martins was accompanied with a message that said, “Martins had a successful surgery in UK.” Martins contributed a total of four goals for Shanghai Shenhua since the start of the new season in the Chinese Super League (CSL). Martins injury has sidelined him from a possible return to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup as he is expected to be out for up to seven months. Martins ha

Big Brother Naija housemate, Lolu during his diary section revealed to Big Brother last night, that he was molested at the age of 5 by their housemaid and it went out on for four years. According to him, the housemaid subjected him to lots of punishments whenever he refused to comply with her orders. He said he couldn't report all that was happening to his mother because she had so much she was dealing with at that time. But he disclosed that he only got the courage to speak about it to his younger sister at the age 21.
