Prince Philip, 96, is admitted to hospital for planned hip surgery after missing three public appearances in ten days

Prince Philip has today been admitted to hospital ahead of a planned hip operation that is scheduled to take place tomorrow.

Buckingham Palace said that he was in the King Edward VII Hospital in London before planned surgery on Wednesday.

This comes after the Duke of Edinburgh missed his third engagement in just 10 days when he pulled out of the Royal's Easter church service on Sunday.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said this earlier today: 'His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London for planned surgery on his hip which will take place tomorrow.

Report says that the 96-year-old, who has officially retired from public duties, decided to miss the annual event on Sunday due to the hip problem he is suffering.

FG acquires calibration safety aircraft worth millions of dollars

The Honourable Minister, Sen. Hadi Sirika; receiving the Beechcraft 350 aircraft at the General Aviation Terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Thursday. Federal Government of Nigeria on Thursday has delivered a Beechcraft 350 aircraft worth 8.5million Dollars for calibration of navigation equipment in the country’s airports. According to the press release by Federal Ministy of Information and Culture Honourable Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika who was present to receive the aircraft at the General Aviation Terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, said that the aim of acquiring the aircraft is to calibrate the Nigerian airport equipment and to aid the country’s flight operations.
