American Singer, Mariah Carey has revealed how she has been struggling with bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is associated with episodes of mood swings ranging from depressive lows to manic highs. According to reports, Mariah Carey disclosed the diagnosis as pertaining to mental health and explained  why she had not previously revealed the diagnosis. The singer said: I didn’t want to carry around the stigma of a lifelong disease that would define me and potentially end my career,” she said. “I was so terrified of losing everything and I lived in isolation and constant fear”. “Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me, It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn’t do that anymore. The Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State has commenced academic activities, on 12 April. According to the Federal Government official Twitter handle, it was announced that the Maritime University has commenced academic activities. The University which was granted approval January 2018 by National Universities Commission to commence undergraduate degree programmes with effect 2017/18 session was established to help in training prospective maritime personnel towards the judicious use of Nigeria’s vast water territories and to give the best care for the potential maritime operators.

NBS releases February CPI report as Nigeria’s increase drops to 14.33%

The National Bureau of Statistics  (NBS) on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, released February 2018 inflation report for the oil-rich West African country, Nigeria. The NBS report for February 2018 shows that the increase rate measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), dropped to 14.33 percent in February from 15.13 percent recorded in January 2018. The report said on a month-on-month basis, the Headline index increased by 0.79 percent in February 2018, down by 0.01 percent points from the rate recorded in January 2018. On every month basis, the NBS revealed the Headline index increased by 0.79 percent in February 2018, down by 0.01 percent points from the rate recorded in January. The NBS said the percentage change in the average composite CPI for the twelve-month period ending February 2018 over the average of the CPI for the previous twelve month period was 15.93 percent, showing 0.29 percent point lower from 16.22 percent recorded early this year again.
