Police arrest Senator Omo-Agege for stealing the Senate mace

The suspended Senator Omo Agege who led some hoodlums that stole the symbol of authority, the mace, in the upper chamber today has been arrested by police.  Recalled that Senate has given Security agencies 24 hours ultimatum to retrieve its mace.

Suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege & “hoodlums” storm Senate, steal mace

Unknown "hoodlums" stormed the National Assembly, today making away with the mace of office. The Senate was in session when the thugs stormed in, reportedly accompanying suspended senator  Ovie Omo-Agege . T he Deputy Senate Leader, Ike Ekeremadu asked that the senators in session settle down for the continuation of the plenary, using another mace, while promising that the hoodlums will be punished accordingly.  Omo-Agege and the thugs were said to have escaped with the mace in 3 waiting vehicles. The Senate, in a statement by its spokesperson  Abdullahi Sabi  has said it is treasonous to carter away with the mace. Health Workers in Federal Hospitals embark on Indefinite Strike

Health workers in Federal hospitals across the country have announced the beginning of an indefinite strike. The National Chairman of the union overseeing the health workers, Joint Health Section Unions (JOHESU), Obinna Ogbonna revealed this at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, on Wednesday. The Federal Government has failed to fulfil the agreement reached over 6 months ago on the adjustment and payment of arrears of the Consolidate Health Salary Structure (CONHESS), Ogbonna said. The salary structure has been implemented for the medical doctors since 2009, he said, with other health workers that have been forgotten. JAMB denies releasing cut-off marks for institutions for 2018 examination

Joint Admissions Matriculation Board  (JAMB) Adverse to media reports that the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board have reduced the cut-off marks, the Agency has denied such reports. JAMB’s Head of Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in a statement, said no cut-off marks has been released either for programmes or institutions. Dr Benjamin, announced that cut off marks would be revealed later in June after policy meeting. He warned that any institution that begins admission process before the policy meeting would be acting illegally and that it would attract consequences. “We want to seize this medium to debunk such rumours as they are malicious and wicked as they are designed to defraud innocent Nigerians, especially parents and guardians as well as other stakeholders”, Benjamin said. About 11 lions are killed in a suspected poison attack in Uganda, a major blow to their economy

A lion and lioness on a tree at the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda A suspected poison attack has killed 11 lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda.  Report said that about 90 percent of the animals has lost their natural habitats in the last 75 years. The deaths are major blow to not just the country's economy but also its lion preservation efforts. The carcasses of about eight cubs and three lionesses, all from the same pride, were found scattered in the fishing village of Hamukungu, in southwest Uganda, last week, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities in the  country.  The lions are suspected to have eaten poisoned meat given to them by local villagers, the ministry said. The villagers may have killed the lions for attacking their cows.
