Interesting facts about city of Ibadan

Ibadan is the capital of Oyo State precisely the Political Capital of Western region in Nigeria. a city built on Seven Hills. The Seven Hills are: 1. Oke Padre 2. Oke Ado 3. Oke Bola 4. Oke Mapo 5. Oke Are 6. Oke Sapati 7. Oke Mokola. But Ibadan is not just a City of Hills. It is also a City of 'Bottoms'. Loosely translated, 'idi' means bottom or the backside. Several people have attached sexual innuendoes to the names. However, the actual translation indicates that some of the 'idis' were connected with how the settlers converged at a point, thereby leading to how they arrived at the names given. Former Military President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has said that setting up a two-party political system in Nigeria is crucial to building the nation’s democracy. Babangida, who made this comment in a message to Nigerians ahead of the May 29 Democracy Day celebration, stressed that he is worried about the country’s political structure and the absence of a clear-cut ideology by political parties. The former Military President alleged that democracy in Nigeria has been polarized in the last 18 years and therefore, he wants the nation to consider adopting a two-party structure as a way to solving many of its challenges. Bukola Saraki inspects the IDP welfare facilities on Children's day

Senate President, Bukola Saraki spent time with the children of internally displaced people at Abagana IDP Camp, Benue State on Children's day while inspecting the welfare facilities in the camp. Following the recent briefings in the past week by the security chiefs and the approval of more funding for the security agencies by the Nigerian Senate. The Senate last year, passed the North East Development Bill which is focused on restoring peace and normalcy in the insurgency disturbed areas. The act, which has now been assented to by the President, gives the North-East Development Commission the mandate to receive and manage funds allocated by the Federal Government and international donor agencies for the resettlement, rehabilitation, integration and reconstruction of roads, houses and business premises of victims of the insurgency.
