BREAKING: Court declares Omo-Agege’s suspension by Senate invalid

The Federal High Court in Abuja has declared Senator Ovie Omo-Agege suspension by the Senate for 90 legislative days invalid. The ruling judge, Nnamdi Dimgba on Thursday stated that the Senate is only empowered to suspend an erring member for 14 days and 1 legislative day. Justice Dimgba, therefore, ordered the immediate reinstatement of Senator Omo Agege who was suspended on 12 April, 2018, to be paid salaries and other entitlements. Senator Omo-Agege was suspended during plenary over the remarks he made at a press conference that the amendment of the 2010 Electoral Act which changes the sequence of elections set by INEC is targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari. Lagos port receive ships with Petrol, other commodities

Not more than seven ships laden with various products, including petrol, are at Lagos ports waiting to berth, on Thursday. The Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) disclosed in its daily “Shipping Position” made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that four of the vessels were waiting to berth with petrol.  According to NPA, another three ships would berth with bulk fertiliser, bulk sugar and frozen fish. The authority added that 37 other ships laden with petroleum products, food items and other goods were expected at Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports between May 10 and May 26. “The expected ships are carrying buckwheat, containers, container, frozen fish, bulk sugar, base oil, pet coke, bulk fertiliser, empty containers and petrol,” NPA said.

Los Angeles woman charges Chris Brown for rape

A Los Angeles woman filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against Chris Brown and a fellow rapper, for repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted at Brown’s home during a drug-and alcohol-fueled party last year. The woman, identified as Jane Doe, said she was lured to the singer’s house following a concert at a nightclub on February 23, 2017 and was raped several times by Lowell Grissom, who performs under the name Young Lo. She also alleges that another unidentified woman at the party assaulted her, forcing her into performing oral sex. The assault was all the more gruesome, the lawsuit alleges, as the attacker identified as Doe X was menstruating at the time. “This is one of the most horrific cases involving alleged sexual assault that I have ever seen. Our client, Jane Doe, has been severely traumatized by what she was forced to suffer” Gloria Allred, one of three lawyers representing the woman, said in a statement.
