One of the Northern parts of Nigeria refinery begins production of 2 million litres of petroleum

The Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical company will begin production of 2 million liters of petroleum products today April 27th. According to the company's management, the refinery will get its supply of crude from Escravos, Delta state and then begin refining immediately. This is part of efforts to increase the supply of fuel in the country.

Nigerian musician sentenced for attempting to steal $3.5 million in tax refunds

A Nigerian musician based in St. Louis pleaded guilty for attempting to steal tax refunds in 2015 and was sentenced to more three years in federal prison on Thursday, April 21. According to investigators, 29-year-old Olufunso Adesina, a guitarist tried to steal more than $3 million in fake tax refunds but didn't succeed in that.  Adesina collected almost $800,000 from more than 50 refunds by filing false tax returns under other people’s names. November last year, the U.S. Attorney's office in St. Louis announced charges against Adesina. Prosecutors say he has left the area, and urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Internal Revenue Service's criminal investigation division.  Prosecutors say Adeshina participated in a stolen identity tax fraud scheme. Buhari returns 2016 budget, holds meeting with Saraki, Dogara

Following the dissent between the executive and the National Assembly over the 2016 Budget, President Muhammadu Buhari has returned the Appropriation Bill to NASS even as he has met with its leadership today again. The Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas, confirmed it and told pressmen after the House rose from its plenary on Thursday that the meeting would take place “this week.”  The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, and other principal officers of the National Assembly attended the meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa today.
