The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has revealed that it will introduce a device that will henceforth check collusion during its examinations across the country. The council’s Head, Media and Information, Mr Damianus Ojijeogu said this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos. He said that during the 2014/2015 examination, it was discovered that collusion was gradually replacing other previous forms of malpractices recorded by the council including impersonation. “We are planning to introduce software called Item Differential Programme. This device is one that would assist in detecting collusion in any given examination. The introduction of the device is based on the high level of collusion that we discovered during the 2014/2015 examination. Ojijeogu explained that, “The device will be able to detect if candidates have jointly answered a particular multiple choice question, which we refer to as “item’’. For instance, if out of...
Davido Adedeji popularly known as Davido was born on November 21, 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. But didn’t live there for long, his father, a wealthy businessman Adedeji Adeleke, decided to send his son to back to the States to receive his higher education. According to Davido biography, in 2010, his dad dropped him off with his registration documents, $2,000 in cash and his passport by the doors of a formerly black Christian college Oakwood University. However, little did Adeleke Sr. know that this decision would have a very significant impact on his son’s life. It just so happened that a guy who lived above Davido and his roommate from Rwanda had his own recording studio. Young David was instantly interested in making music, so instead of focusing on his studies, he chose to record som...
THE Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ordered commercial banks early on Monday to stop customers from using their debit and credit cards abroad. Following the latest development, banks are beginning to communicate the apex bank’s directive to customers through emails, noting that it is a “temporary measure”. The directive, which takes effect from January 1, 2016, will no doubt affect access to foreign online retailers. The measure is seen as part of Federal Government’s efforts to obstruct the flow of foreign exchange out of the country following the intense pressure on the naira in the past week, crossing an all time high of over N280 to the dollar. Already, the naira on Friday strengthened against the dollar after weeks of free fall at the parallel market, gaining N10 to exchange at N270 to a dollar. The development, which has created huge forex debts with banks’ international financial partners, has forced many DMBs to stop their customers from using their Automatic Tell...
