Beyonce has reportedly hired a team to help her work on a gritty movie in order to win her first Oscar Academy award. The ‘Single Ladies’ hitmaker is looking to tell the story of a slave woman, Saartjie Baartman, who was exhibited in London freak shows because of the size of her bum. Baartman was a South Africa slave who died at the age of 25 after being sold to a Scottish doctor in 1800s. The doctor was responsible for placing her on a London show because of the shape of her body. Her stage name was Hottenot Venus. She went to court after it was argued that she had been made to perform against her will by her master, but eventually claimed she performed on her own free will. Meanwhile, The Sun reported that Beyonce who still feels her breakthrough role in the Hollywood movie industry is yet to come, will star in the film. Beyonce has starred in several movies including the award-winning Dream Girls, Austin Powers, and Obsessed.

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola reacted to the death of Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the leader of Yoruba Socio-cultural organization, Afenifere. The Muslim Activist sent a condolence message to the deceased’s father, and warned Nigerians against jumping into any conclusion about the killers. He said Nigerians must not allow those who have hidden agenda to destroy this country. However, the Ondo State Police Command PRO, Femi Joseph, said it has not been established if the woman is related to Pa Fasoranti or not. He also disclosed that some other passengers were kidnapped during the incident, which happened on Friday. Narrating how the incident happened, the PPRO stated that the hoodlums struck on the Benin-Sagamu Expressway. Bangladesh ‘Tree Man’ to undergo surgery

A Bangladeshi called “Tree Man” for massive bark-like warts on his hands and feet will finally have surgery to remove the growths that started appearing 10 years ago, a hospital said today, January 31st. Abul Bajandar, from the southern district of Khulna, is preparing for the surgery to cut out the growths weighing at least five kilogrammes (11 pounds) that have smothered his hands and feet. Bajandar who was forced to quit working as a bicycle puller told AFP at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) that he initially thought that the growth are harmless, "but slowly I lost all my ability to work. There are now dozens of two to three inch roots in both my hands. And there are some small ones in my legs,” the 26 years old added. A team of doctors has been formed to perform the operation at DMCH, Bangladesh’s largest state-run hospital, which has decided to waive costs of the treatment.
