Dignatries refuse to disclose donations at Aisha Buhari's book launch


Wife of Nigeria president, Aisha Buhari’s launched a book titled “The Essentials of Beauty Therapy: A Complete Guide for Beauty Therapy” yesterday, April 14, at the presidential villa banquet hall, Abuja.

According to reports, prominent personnel present at the public book presentation intentionally refused to disclosed their donations.

It was not clear whether their decision was based on the present administration’s anti-graft crusade.

Organizers of the presentation revealed that the donations would be sent to parents of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok and the parents of the boys abducted in Buni Yadi.

Meanwhile, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo noted at the event to Mrs. Buhari that the president is very strict on monetary issues and should not expect any large donation from him. And he pointed that himself and the president were on half salaries.

Osinbajo also stressed the importance of the girl-child education, he said: “Girl-child education is still an issue, girls not having the opportunity to go to school. If the wife of the president didn’t have the opportunity to go to school, she wouldn’t have had the opportunity to reach others.

“It emphasises the importance of education. Her desire to dedicate the proceeds of the presentation to the victims of insurgency and particularly the families of the Chibok girls is commendable.”

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu who was the chairman of the event was represented by his wife, Oluremi.

Oluremi Tinubu who failed to announce her husband donation, commended Mrs. Buhari for her decision to invest the proceeds in charity.

She said Nigerians should begin to pay attention to beauty industry which is capable of generating income and employment.

Senator Daisy Danjuma who presented the book also failed to make her donation public but praised Aisha Buhari for writing the book.

Speaking on behalf of the 36 state governors, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi state, Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, said that he and his counterparts would make the books available to all the local government areas in the country. And didn't announce his donation.

The executive secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, Musa’udu Kazaure, chief executive officer of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Prof. Abdusalami Nasidi, the wife of Kebbi state governor, Zainab Bagudu were also present and didn't make their donations known to the public.
