Witness testifies in court as Maryam Sanda faces trial for alleged murder of husband

Maryam Sanda is standing trial for the alleged murder of husband, Bilyamin Bello, son of former Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Bello Haliru, as Mohammed Ibrahim witness in court on Thursday.

The witness who is friend to the deceased, said he was with the deceased for over eight hours, the night before his death.

According to Mr Mohammed “Ms Sanda asked her husband for divorce after she found out that he cheated on her and threatened to chop off his husband’s sex organ during some quarrels and fight, but never actually intended killing him".

During cross-examination, Mr Mohammed told the court that to avoid coming in between the couples, he decided to leave their house, before leaving the couple's house that night. Bilyamin was not badly injured after the long quarrel and fight between him and wife (Sanda). 

Meanwhile,  court has adjourned the case to 15 May for further judgement.
