About 1,131 pregnant women are HIV positive in Lagos

About 1,131 pregnant women have been tested positive to the dreaded and incurable disease, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Lagos State. The  Health Commissioner, Dr. Jide Idris disclosed  this , at a ministerial news conference in Alausa, Lagos, that 38,791 pregnant women were tested for HIV, out of which 1,131 of them tested positive in the last one year. The commissioner said the test was carried out from the money received from Global Fund to tackle HIV issues in the state in a bid to attach the spread. He said the agreement between the Global Fund and the Lagos State Government was signed in February 2017 with the Lagos State Ministry of Health expected to receive and manage the Global Fund grants, to oversee grant implementation and procurement, and to report on grant programmatic and financial performance to the Global Fund Secretariat. “This first phase of the grant was described as the pilot phase and it was agreed that the success of Lagos State...

Beyonce to star in new movie, to act as a South African slave

Beyonce has reportedly hired a team to help her work on a gritty movie in order to win her first Oscar Academy award. The ‘Single Ladies’ hitmaker is looking to tell the story of a slave woman, Saartjie Baartman, who was exhibited in London freak shows because of the size of her bum. Baartman was a South Africa slave who died at the age of 25 after being sold to a Scottish doctor in 1800s. The doctor was responsible for placing her on a London show because of the shape of her body. Her stage name was Hottenot Venus. She went to court after it was argued that she had been made to perform against her will by her master, but eventually claimed she performed on her own free will. Meanwhile, The Sun reported that Beyonce who still feels her breakthrough role in the Hollywood movie industry is yet to come, will star in the film. Beyonce has starred in several movies including the award-winning Dream Girls, Austin Powers, and Obsessed.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle finally made their vows

The royal couple  Prince Harry and former Hollywood actress, Meghan Markle, are officially husband and wife. The prince, who is sixth in line to the British throne, married Markle, the American actress known for her role on the USA Network legal drama Suits, on Saturday in a ceremony held at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel in the English county of Berkshire, London. Prince Harry made the vow in front of a congregation that included his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II; the Duke of Edinburgh; Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall. Best man and brother Prince William stood at Harry’s side while he and Markle exchanged vows.
