PRESIDENT'S WIFE PLAN TO CARE FOR IDPS

The wife of the Nigerian President Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has shown her plans for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in Borno State. Mrs Buhari has established a committee in Maiduguri that will help IDPs in the Northeast. She visited the persons at Dailori camp briefly after unveiling her plans for formation of committee of about 10 people that will oversee the distribution of relief materials to Boko Haram victims in Borno State. Aisha Buhari inaugurated the committee which will oversee the sharing of relief items to alleviate the suffering of people affected by the threat of the terrorism. Federal Government Declares December Public Holidays

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared 24th, 25th and 28th as public holidays for the celebration of Maulud Nabiy, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, respectively. The announcement was made by the Minister of the Interior, Rtd Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau that the Federal Government has declared Thursday 24th December, 2015 as public holiday to mark Eid-El Maulud celebration. He also stated that Friday, 25th and Monday 28th December, 2015 have also been declared as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day celebration. Maulud Nabiyy is a celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, while Christmas marks the birth of Jesus Christ.

CBN stop the use of ATM cards abroad

THE Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ordered commercial banks early on Monday to stop customers from using their debit and credit cards abroad. Following the latest development, banks are beginning to communicate the apex bank’s directive to customers through emails, noting that it is a “temporary measure”. The directive, which takes effect from January 1, 2016, will no doubt affect access to foreign online retailers. The measure is seen as part of Federal Government’s efforts to obstruct the flow of foreign exchange out of the country following the intense pressure on the naira in the past week, crossing an all time high of over N280 to the dollar. Already, the naira on Friday strengthened against the dollar after weeks of free fall at the parallel market, gaining N10 to exchange at N270 to a dollar. The development, which has created huge forex debts with banks’ international financial partners, has forced many DMBs to stop their customers from using their Automatic Tell...
