Women in Journalism Africa 2016 edition which is an annual conference organized by AOL Nigeria, in partnership with various organizations with strong interest in matters that concern women with the aim of focusing on African women in the media and inspiring the next generation female in issues relating to education, journalism, leadership and media organisation was held yesterday 21, July at the MUSON Centre, Lagos. WIJ was founded by writer Yomi Owope, with the first Conference (WiJ2014) held at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island Lagos. Superstar, Celine Dion is set with a new album, the first since her husband’s death, which will feature collaborations with French stars and uplifting lyricism, her label announced today. The album, titled "Encore Un Soir" will be out on August 26, 2016. On May this year, Celine Dion released the title track — which means “One More Night” in English. The 48 years old Canadian had dedicated the ballad to her late husband Rene Angelil. The song “Encore Un Soir” was written by a leading French pop star, Jean-Jacques Goldman. Label Sony Music said that the album will also feature Dion’s first song written by two other prominent French rockers, Francis Cabrel and Serge Lama. Dion will also cut into her Quebecois heritage with a cover of “Ordinaire” by Robert Charlebois, a major artist of the French-speaking province. U23 Coach Samson Siasia The Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia has released his 23-man list for the Olympic football tournament in Rio, Brazil. Chelsea defensive midfielder Mikel Obi and Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi were named as the over-aged players that will fly the country’s colours in Brazil. Goal gathered through a reliable source from the Nigeria Football Federation that coach Samson Siasia opted for two senior players instead of the mandatory three as competition kicks off next month in Brazil. The source said: “Samson Siasia has submitted his 18-man list for this year’s Olympic football tournament in Rio, Brazil and I can authoritatively disclose to you that the coach opted for only two over-age players and they are Mikel Obi and goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi." The Syndik8 Records’ official disc jockey, Obi Ajuonuma known as DJ Obi has set Nigeria on the world map by breaking the Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Club DJing. DJ Obi earlier today at Sao Café, Lekki, Lagos, broke 200-hour record set by Polish DJ, Norbert Selmaj, also known as Norberto Loco at The Underground Temple Bar in Dublin, Ireland on November 27, 2014. DJ Obi who is the son of late Levi Ajuonuma, a former Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), began his ten-day set on June 22nd which will run till 11:30 pm tomorrow, July 2nd 2016, when he would have completed a total of 240 hours target he set for himself.
