President Muhammadu Buhari has today returned to the country after visiting his doctor in the United Kingdom for a medical check-up. Buhari arrived with the Presidential wing to the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport, Abuja, at 6:30 p.m. The president who left Nigeria on Tuesday, was earlier scheduled to return to the country on Saturday. Among those who received him at the airport were the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Bello and the Permanent Secretary State House, Jalil Arabia. Others were the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu and Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Wayne Rooney has agreed a "deal in principle" to join Major League Soccer side DC United from Premier League club Everton, reports said Thursday. It has been suggested a £12.5 million ($17 million) deal has been agreed that could see the 32-year-old leave his boyhood club just 12 months after rejoining them from Manchester United. Reports say Rooney has been offered a contract until the end of the 2020 season, although the MLS transfer window does not open until July. Late Dr Musa Asake The General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Dr Musa Asake, 66, has passed away. Asake reportedly died earlier today after an illness, in Abuja, his brother and former member of the House of Representatives, Jonathan Asake told PUNCH Newspaper. Asake’s death is coming two weeks after he led a nationwide protest called by CAN against the killing of Christians by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The deceased, an indigene of Southern Kaduna, has been vocal in the defence of Christianity in Nigeria

Mahathir Mohamad  92-year-old Mahathir Mohamad on Thursday was sworn in as Malaysia’s seventh prime minister following his election victory over the coalition that has ruled the Southeast Asian nation for six decades since independence from Britain. Malaysia’s constitutional monarch, Sultan Muhammad V, administered the oath of office in a ceremony. The Federal High Court in Abuja has declared Senator Ovie Omo-Agege suspension by the Senate for 90 legislative days invalid. The ruling judge, Nnamdi Dimgba on Thursday stated that the Senate is only empowered to suspend an erring member for 14 days and 1 legislative day. Justice Dimgba, therefore, ordered the immediate reinstatement of Senator Omo Agege who was suspended on 12 April, 2018, to be paid salaries and other entitlements. Senator Omo-Agege was suspended during plenary over the remarks he made at a press conference that the amendment of the 2010 Electoral Act which changes the sequence of elections set by INEC is targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari. Not more than seven ships laden with various products, including petrol, are at Lagos ports waiting to berth, on Thursday. The Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) disclosed in its daily “Shipping Position” made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that four of the vessels were waiting to berth with petrol.  According to NPA, another three ships would berth with bulk fertiliser, bulk sugar and frozen fish. The authority added that 37 other ships laden with petroleum products, food items and other goods were expected at Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports between May 10 and May 26. “The expected ships are carrying buckwheat, containers, container, frozen fish, bulk sugar, base oil, pet coke, bulk fertiliser, empty containers and petrol,” NPA said.
