EFCC arrests NBC DG over fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, has arrested the Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Emeka Mba.

Investigation reveals that Mba was arrested on Monday over an alleged N15 billion fraud and was taken to the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja.

He is currently being grilled by the commission, according to a source. It will be recalled that detectives of the EFCC stormed the DG’s office last week and invited some staff.

Babangida summons for two-party system in Democracy message

Former Military President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has said that setting up a two-party political system in Nigeria is crucial to building the nation’s democracy. Babangida, who made this comment in a message to Nigerians ahead of the May 29 Democracy Day celebration, stressed that he is worried about the country’s political structure and the absence of a clear-cut ideology by political parties. The former Military President alleged that democracy in Nigeria has been polarized in the last 18 years and therefore, he wants the nation to consider adopting a two-party structure as a way to solving many of its challenges.
