Lagos State Governor unveils the statue of the late Gani Fawehinmi

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday unveiled a new statue of the late legal leader, Chief Gani Fawehinmi at the Liberty Park, Ojota. Lagos.

Governor Ambode, represented by his Deputy, Oluranti Adebule, said the 44 feet edifice symbolises the physical aspect that the rights activist represented in his life time.

Unveiling the statue is in commemoration of the 80th born after death birthday of the late icon.

The Governor said it was an affirmation of his administration’s commitment to celebrate prominent individuals whose action have helped to develop Lagos state in a positive way over the years.

At the event are digitaries like the Deputy Governor of the state Oluranti Adebule representing Governor Ambode, the wife of late Gani Fawehinmi, Ganiyat, the human right activist, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin; Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and culture,  Mr Steve Ayomide among others.
